Circular 03/2026

Dear Parents

It seems incomprehensible that we already find ourselves in Week 7 of Term 1.

The term has been action-packed with the academic schedule, sport fixtures, and culture programme in full flow across the Junior School and High School landscapes.

I hereby touch base with a few points of interest and general updates.

Totsiens, Mevrou Myburgh

For the first time in the College’s history, we extended the bell ringing ceremony to a staff member.

As a teacher who taught at the College for 25 years (which translates into 100 terms), Mrs Myburgh thoroughly deserves the recognition and privilege of ringing the bell to bid the College adieu.

Apart from dedicating a quarter of a century to teaching our pupils, her results in the Grade 8 – 12 Afrikaans First Additional Language classes (particularly in the Grade 12 IEB final examinations) were excellent.

The school has always been close to her heart, seen no more clearly than in her rapport with the pupils over the years.

In line with the symbolic nature of ringing a bell which, amongst other things, signifies peace and freedom, we wish Mrs Myburgh a blissful and peaceful retirement, as she looks back on a highly successful teaching career. The impact that she had on pupils and staff has been immense.

Totsiens, Mevrou Myburgh. Pretty walk (mooi loop).

Update on proceedings at Izingwe
The foundation for the astroturf is firmly in place, meaning that the major earthworks are complete, and the cricket field has been cleared and levelled.

The next phases include kerbing, fencing, the installation of drainage and irrigation systems, grassing the cricket field and consolidating the banks from where soil has been taken.

THE MAJOR FOCUS FOR THIS YEAR IS CELEBRATING OUR 30TH BIRTHDAY

Our planned events to celebrate our 30th year as Felixton College are as follows:

  • Term 1 (13 March) Campus ceremony and celebrations for pupils and staff
  • Term 2 (20 June) Big Red Picnic for pupils, staff and parents
  • Term 3 (19 September) Banquet for stakeholders, past and present
  • Term 4 (Date to be confirmed) 100 Club for parents and friends

Other focus areas for the 30th year celebrations will include the opening of the time capsule (a capsule containing paraphernalia buried by Felixton College pupils 30 years ago); a Founders Day / Reunion event, and on-going media splashes.

General

Social media
Thank you to those families who already like, follow, comment on, and share our school social media posts. If you are not yet following us on Facebook or Instagram, these platforms are where we regularly share school news, highlights, achievements and campus life. As we look ahead to our 30th birthday celebrations and the various events planned throughout the year, following our social media
pages is a great way to stay informed, share in the celebrations and connect.

Support and sponsorship opportunities

As we plan various events and initiatives during our 30th birthday year, we would like to invite any parents who may wish to offer assistance or explore sponsorship opportunities to get in touch with us. We value the support of our wider community and welcome these conversations.

Supporter shirts
I have been approached by parents at various sport fixtures, who have expressed interest in a red collared shirt for supporters (golf shirt similar to the staff golf shirts) with the College logo. The school is in the position to order stock but we are not able to carry vast quantities.
To direct our internal logistics and plan of action, please could you contact Mrs Moodley at Reception by Friday 27 February to indicate if you would like to purchase a shirt.

The golfer-style shirt will be red and carry the school logo with the word, SUPPORTER, underneath.

The cost of the shirt is R330-00.

I look forward to an exciting year and more interaction at our various academic, sport, and cultural events and functions.

Kind regards
Wayne Rademan
Headmaster
