Dear Parents
As this whirlwind of a term winds down, we can finally take a moment to pause, breathe, and be grateful for all that we have and all that we are. I take this moment to wish you all a happy Heritage Day for the 24th. We have thoroughly enjoyed celebrating Heritage Day at school today, focusing our attention on capturing the essence of what heritage is, and why it should be celebrated. (See gallery at the bottom of this newsletter).

Some important flash cards regarding school routine:
Junior School Building Project
PRI Construction won the tender for the Junior School building project. The site has been cordoned off and work has begun. The basic timeline is for the foundations and floors to be finished by December 2022 and for the super structure to go up in January 2023. The plan is for the project to be completed by the end of April 2023.Some important flash cards regarding school routine:
The excitement is palpable and the next seven months hold in store some interesting emotions. In-house logistics have gone well thus far and our pupils and teachers have been absolute stars. Thank you also, to you, our parent body, for your patience, understanding and unwavering support.
It is also pertinent to point out that during this time, all persons are advised that the cordoned off area and vicinity of this construction is strictly out of bounds. This is most importantly, for the safety of all concerned. The village residents have also been notified of this fact via the Felixton Village Homeowners’ Association. All staff contracted to and employed by PRI Construction will be easily identifiable with name badges, and they have been instructed that their movement around the College grounds is limited to the construction site. Your cooperation is requested particularly where vehicles are having to go against the ‘official route’ to school, due to their size.
Close of School day
Please note that Junior School and High School pupils are expected to go home as soon as they are finished with school activities. Only pupils who are involved with academic support classes, or sport practices, may remain on the College grounds until 16h00.
Absenteeism – Grade 11 and 12
Unfortunately, school attendance in Grades 11 and 12 particularly in the last two weeks of this term has been poor. This has had a negative impact on certain events that were planned for this time period.
Leaving school early at the end of the term
Please note that the Felixton College term dates are published with a view to allow parents sufficient time to plan holidays in advance.
Reports are only available on the last day of each term, as there is a lot of hard work that goes into constructing and collating an official report card that documents your child’s performance and involvement at school during the term.
There has been an increase in the number of parents taking their children out of school before the official end of term (days before end of term in some cases) and I therefore request that this practice be stopped. We would really like to end each term off, with a full complement of pupils and teachers, to salute the efforts of all and sundry, and formally close proceedings before going on each respective holiday.
Fee Structure 2023
The new Fee Structure for 2023 will be emailed to parents, as well as placed on the D6.
Term 4
Term 4 begins on Tuesday 11 October. The last term of the year is only 8 weeks long, but it does have a large number of events condensed into the short time span, so it can get rather frenetic. Please peruse the Term 4 Planner to keep abreast of scheduled activities.
Until we see each other for an eventful Term 4, full of year-end events and functions, building projects, and the customary Academic, Sport, Culture and Service commitments, please enjoy the holiday with your loved ones and stay safe.
Kind Regards
Wayne Rademan
