Felixton Achieves Best Results in IEB History in Zululand!

Print

We are incredibly proud of our 38 Matric candidates who wrote and passed the IEB Examinations.  Between them they amassed 64 distinctions!

Jacob Biju Mark achieved 9 distinctions and was placed in the Top 65 Nationally and the Top 13 in KZN.  Jacob will be studying Medicine at either the University of Cape Town or Pretoria.

Ignus van Zyl was another top performer achieving 9 distinctions and just missing out on a 10th for Advanced Programme Maths.  Ignus will be studying B Com Law at Rhodes University.

In all 11 language, science and mathematical subjects on offer, our Matriculants were above the IEB average by 5.5% as an overall average.  IEB averages are already unrealistically high because only about 8000 candidates write, mainly from top Independent Schools.

Felixton College has become Zululand's own centre of excellence in these important subjects.  Apart from Matric results, Felixton College is a leading KZN school in Mathematics, English and Afrikaans Olympiads.

For a centre of excellence in languages, sciences and mathematics to make you proud, look no further than this small Zululand school that invests in people before buildings and where great lives come before a great school.

In their own dedicated building, we welcome our three year olds into Grade RRR, four year olds into the stimulating world of Grade RR and five year olds into the equally exciting Grade R.

Roots provides a safe, home-from-home environment that allows children to develop a healthy self-image. Carefully selected academic activities designed to promote social, emotional and academic development through play are the hallmark of our Grade RRR to Grade R years.

Your children will be in the safe care of 3 very dedicated teachers with 55 years' teaching experience between them. Mrs Jo Baxter is the Grade R teacher (assisted by Mrs Patricia Mabaso),  Mrs Jill Lawrie (assisted by Mrs Siso Tshazi) is the Grade RR teacher and Mrs Glenyce King is the Grade RRR teacher.

Felixton College has small classes (of no more than 25) and all classrooms are tastefully decorated and air-conditioned. We follow the Outcomes Based Education programme up to the end of Grade 9, when our pupils write the GETC, set by the Independent Examinations Board (IEB). The IEB syllabi are followed from Grades 10 to 12, culminating in the internationally recognised IEB matriculation examinations. We are proud to have achieved a 100% pass rate in matric since the inception of the school. Computer skills are our special strength and each pupil has access to the Internet for research purposes.
