Laughing at someone else's can shorten it.
Last week we were forced to postpone the proposed work party to throw the foundations. This was due to some exciting developments, which only emerged during the week.
The University of Zululand’s Human Movement Department, the Zululand Rugby Academy and a local Biokineticist, Jason Sivil, have all indicated an interest in getting involved in the facility. This may require alterations to the design and hence the delay. Discussions are continuing this week and the final design will be concluded by this Friday.
Ultimately the facility will also be the home of the College’s Izingwe Sports Academy and will thus become the heart of Sports Development in Zululand.
The next date for the work party will be announced in due course. Any specific questions can be addressed to Warren Poustie on 083 6098696.

GRADE 7 FORMAL DINNER
Thursday 5 November saw the grade 7 class of 2009 and their parents enjoying a meal together in the hall. Thanks to lots of fundraising and hard work by the grade 6 class and their moms, tables were set, flowers arranged and the hall took on the atmosphere of a special occasion. The grade 7 children chatted about their years in primary school while their parents put faces to names. Mrs Schreuder reminded us of a special characteristic of every child as she presented them each with a cellphone sock, donated by the Kalyan family, and a CD of Felixton Memories.
We have a wonderful, hard working and efficient grade 6 class. The children willingly gave of their time to wait on tables while their moms ran the kitchen and washed up! Thank you to Mrs Lyn Kok and her team.
The evening was enjoyed by all and it was a fitting send off to a deserving group of grade 7 learners, most of whom will be returning as grade 8 learners in 2010.

SPORT REPORTS
K.I.C.C.S.S.A. GOLF TOURNAMENT
The annual K.I.C.C.S.S.A. Golf Tournament, hosted by Creston College, took place at the Port Shepstone Country Club last weekend.
The participating schools were Felixton College, Creston College and Eden College. The tournament, played over 18 holes on Saturday was won by Creston College, with our pairing of Michael Dalais and Tristan v.d. Spuy finishing a credible 4th.
Our 6 boys, all from the Junior School, played an extra 9 holes on Friday and Sunday respectively. The exposure our players got playing tournament golf on a good course, partnered by our boys was invaluable.
JUNIOR OPEN BOYS’ CRICKET vs RICHARDIA
Felixton College batted first, scoring 136/8 in their 20 overs. Ruben Kok (47) and Khetha Nxumalo (43) were the best batsmen, scoring 85 runs for the 3rd wicket. Richardia was then bowled out for 81 with Man of the Match, Khetha Nxumalo, taking 4/2 including a hat trick!! Well done, Khetha, and the rest of the team.
U15A vs ESHOWE HIGH
The U15A team traveled to Eshowe with some doubt about their chances at being successful, as both opening bowlers and opening batsmen were promoted to the 1st team. These doubts were unfounded as firstly the bowlers bowled superbly to restrict Eshowe to 65 all out.
Sashen Moodley 2/13 off 3.4 overs
Professor Ngobo 3/24 off 4 overs
Kgosi Ntheledi 2/9 off 4 overs
Wian Prinsloo 3/12 off 4 overs
Henré Nel was 23 not out (off 24 balls) and Wian Prinsloo 19 not out (off 18 balls), and both these boys batted with confidence to pass their total after 11 overs. Felixton won with 9 wickets in hand.
FIRST TEAM CRICKET vs ESHOWE HIGH SCHOOL
On Saturday 7 November, Felixton First Team won the toss and elected to bowl. The home team bowled very well and dismissed Eshowe for 95 runs. Best bowlers were Johnny Riekert 4/14 and Jacob Bijumark 4/20. Felixton went in to bat and reached the target with 4 wickets down. Best batsmen were Johnny Riekert 28 and Antony Smith 28. Felixton won the match by 6 wickets. Congratulations to the team for winning their last 4 matches and also for losing only 1 match at the Pongola Pro 20 Tournament, making it 6 out of 7 wins for the last half of 2009.
FIRST TEAM GIRLS vs ESHOWE HIGH SCHOOL
The girls came up against a very determined Eshowe team who bowled extremely well dismissing the Felixton College girls team for a paltry 35 runs. In return, the Felixton girls fought back with an extremely disciplined bowling attack but ultimately could not defend such a low total. Emma Pennefather was the star bowler, taking some well-earned wickets.
JUNIOR OPEN 8-A-SIDE DAY/NIGHT CRICKET TOURNAMENT
Felixton College hosted a very successful 8-a-side day/night tournament last Friday evening. Five teams competed with the Felixton ‘A’ side unbeaten on the night. It is not often that boys of this age get the opportunity to play under lights and the atmosphere was wonderful. Man of the Tournament, Langa Masuku, had an innings of 38 not out, 13 not out and 51 not out. Other noticeable performances came from Jordan Graven 41 not out, and Benjamin Owen with 2 wickets vs St. Catherine’s. Well done to everyone involved in the organization of the event, and well done to all the boys.
