                                            ISSUE 31/2009

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK: Failure is not necessarily missing the target,
                                                                   but aiming too low.
INTERACT ACTIVITY
On Friday 30 October 2009 we will be having a ‘silver coin day’ to raise funds for those less fortunate than ourselves. As Christmas time is approaching us, these funds will go towards a Christmas treat for these underprivileged people. During the day pupils will have the opportunity to lay their silver coins down forming the shape of a Christmas tree. We would greatly appreciate it if you could participate in this event!

FIRST TEAM CRICKET vs RICHARDS BAY HIGH SCHOOL
In the match against RBHS on Saturday 24 October, Felixton College lost the toss and was sent in to bat.  Good RBHS bowling had the Felixton boys battling on 31/3.  Clinton Steenkamp came in to bat at 4 and after a 34 run partnership with Trevor Kietzmann, things settled down.  Kietzmann was then joined by Jason Pennefather.  These two boys batted beautifully; they shared a 106 run partnership.  Felixton College ended up on 221/6 after 50 overs.

Best batsmen : Jason Pennefather 74 not out, Trevor Kietzmann 73.

RBHS went to bat and at 126/5 they were on track but Felixton stuck to their guns and eventually bowled them out for 163 runs.

Best bowlers:  Jacob Bijumark 3/33 in 9 overs, Johnny Riekert 2/18 in 10 overs and Schalk du Toit 2/28 in 10 overs.

Felixton College won the match by 59 runs.

OPEN GIRLS' CRICKET vs RICHARDS BAY HIGH SCHOOL
Despite losing the match, the girls produced their best performance of the year. Batting first, we posted a very respectable 110 runs in the 20 overs with Emma Pennefather topscoring with 65.  In reply, the girls were destroyed by a very powerful batting display from the Richards Bay star player, Mielie.  Despite surviving what appeared to be a routine dismissal whilst on 30, she plundered 87 runs before going out to Emma Pennefather. A real case of a woman against girls!
This young team (comprising 3 Grade 7 learners) will be the team to watch into the future!
