PARENTS’ ASSOCIATION NEWS........
Felixton Mountain Bike Challenge
Preparations are underway to have the second Felixton Mountain Challenge on the 29th March. Last year’s event was a fun-filled morning with family and friends braving the weather and riding or supporting riders in the 5km, 10 km, 25 km and 50 km races.
The PA would like to make this an even bigger event with more riders participating and they therefore require help from you, the parents, in the following areas:
marshalling, manning water tables, selling of food, setting up the field on Saturday 28th March, registration on Saturday or Sunday, and finally selling advertising space on the t-shirt or in the form of banners along the various routes.
The t-shirt advertising is being finalized by 18 February. If you would like to advertise your business on the t-shirt, please contact Lyn Kok or Warren Poustie.
If you are willing to help in any of these areas, please contact Lyn Kok on 0824856525 or e-mail

U15A vs Empangeni High School
At Empangeni High on Saturday, Felixton College won the toss and elected to field. The spin-bowlers of Felixton College prevailed with Sphe Khathi taking 3 wickets for 28 runs, and Ryan Smith finishing off the EHS batting order with a great spell of 4 wickets for only 10 runs. This was helped on by brilliant fielding performances. Sashen Moodley also took a brilliant 2 wickets for 12 runs in his 7 overs. This resulted in EHS reaching a final score of 100 runs all out in just 29 overs. Felixton College went in to bat and had an unfortunate shaky start with the first four batsmen going out after only 26 runs had been made. Clive Hyde and Ryan Smith then established a partnership of 71 runs to get the team to a 5 wicket victory in just 19 overs. Clive scored a quick 32 runs and Ryan scored 22 not out.
SWIMMING NEWS
The Junior Squad participated in a Social Gala on 4 February at St. Catherine’s. The swimmers showed loads of determination and we are keen to see how the season unfolds. Many thanks to the parents who braved the rain to support the swimmers.
Felixton College hosted an Inter-High Social Gala at the crystal clear Empangeni Municipal Pool on Thursday afternoon. We welcomed St. Catherine’s and Eshowe High School to an afternoon of friendly competition in the water. Some great individual performances were seen, and this bodes well for a successful season.
Congratulations to Damon Welsh (Gr 5) on being selected for the Northern Coastal Swimming team. Damon will participate in the KZN Trials this coming weekend, and we wish him lots of luck.
