THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK: You have never really lived until you've done
something for somebody who can never repay you.
STAFF NEWS Welcome to Mr. Nicholas Wilcox who has joined us to teach Drama and English. Nicholas has a B.A. degree in Drama and English, and Honours in Drama from Rhodes University and we are proud to inform you that he is the first Felixton College Past Pupil to return to the College as a teacher. Mr. Wilcox, we are looking forward to the drama and pizazz you are going to bring to the College!
FROM THE PREP DESK
Dear Parents, Girls and Boys
Thank you for the warm welcome my family and I have received. We are settling down nicely and are looking forward to being part of the Felixton College family.
Education today is about partnership. Parents and teachers need to work together to serve the best interests of the child. It is with this mind that I would like to remind parents about communication. If there is an issue/matter or a concern, please do not hesitate to bring this to our attention. The first port of call is the class teacher. If it is a sporting matter, please contact either the sport coach or Mrs. Teresa Wickham, our sports co-ordinator. Alternatively you can make an appointment to come and see me.
Although we are moving into winter, the sun is still extremely dangerous. All children are expected to wear a Felixton College hat or cap during break and sport. The sport coach will make a call during practice as to whether or not they need to wear hats due to the nature of the game. The policy will be “No hat – no play”. Please help us enforce this rule as it is in the best interests of your child.
Children will be allowed to come to school in civvies on the day of their birthday. This only applies to birthdays that fall on a school day, not weekends or holidays. Please note that this may be amended from time to time depending on outings, excursions, sport matches etc.
We would like to be made aware of any special achievements your child has achieved out of school. I will be placing an ‘achievement book’ outside my office – please complete details by Monday 12:00 in order for us to acknowledge achievements in assembly and in the Newsletter on a Tuesday.
Looking forward to meeting all of you. Hope to see you at the Rugby Festival this weekend. Have a good week. CRAIG McILRATH
Our sincere thanks go to Mr. Thina Moodley, (dad of Shaydan in Grade 1 and Sherridan in Grade 7), who has kindly donated the wonderful shade cloth structure over the Junior play area. This will ensure that our children can play happily under the harsh Zululand sun.
