GRADE 12 GEOGRAPHY CAMP ROCKS!! The Felixton College Grade 12 Geographers enthusiastically left the College on Friday 22 January to do research for the Investigative Projects at Twinstreams, Mtunzini. We are the envy of schools in the hinterland as we are so easily accessible to this marvelous facility to do original research.
Three hypotheses were tackled by three groups, data was collected and analysed. Topics included: • Informal trading in the Mtunzini area • Avitourism – an economy booster • The boardwalk and beach migration
By Saturday afternoon all projects were completed in draft form and a weary bunch of Geographers returned home!
SENIOR PRIMARY TIMETABLE FREE DAY
Grade 7 – A DAY OF SHAKESPEARE
Last Thursday, for Timetable Fee Day, the Grade 7 learners spent the day studying Shakespeare. We started off by taking a brief look at Geoffrey Chaucer and his Pardoner’s Tale. We then discussed the bubonic plague and how it led to changes in the content, quantity and target audience of medieval literature. Moving on to Shakespeare, we looked at some of his works and at the Globe Theatre. The learners then had fun acting out a scene from “The Merchant of Venice” and ended off the day watching “A Knight’s Tale”, with a popcorn break. I am sure the Grade 7’s learnt a great deal and I have to admit that I did too!!
