ISSUE 05/2010

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK: I am one, but still I am one.  I cannot do everything, but I can do something.  I will not refuse to do something I can do.  Helen Keller

SOMETHING FISHY? NO, SHEER BRAINPOWER!
The recent Maths Quiz for Grade 8 and 9 learners was a great success and above all, a lot of fun.  The Fish Team, comprising the Fish Family and Grade 9 learner, Este Louw, emerged the winners.

THE WINNING TEAM - Jessica Fish, Este Louw, Karen, Derek and Tammy Fish

THANK YOU LETTER FROM A PARENT
On January 27th Toni and I were involved in an accident on our way to Felixton College during very wet weather. Our vehicle aqua planed, spun out of control, rolled several times and ended up facing back towards Empangeni.
Thankfully neither of us was obviously physically injured beyond whiplash and mild concussion. Of course Toni was in deep shock and continues to receive post trauma treatment.
What amazed me at the time was that three people immediately stopped to assist us. All were parents from Felixton College. Their kindness, sympathy and general help was overwhelming. One parent called a tow truck, one called the school and one simply held us and prayed with us.
Once again it was brought home to me how amazingly supportive and strong the Felixton family is. The magic of Felixton College has always been the personal touch.
Heartfelt thanks from Toni and I to those parents who gave so freely of their time and resources to ensure that we were cared for at a time of extreme trauma. I cannot over emphasise how comforting it was to have them around and in control at that time. I never got their numbers and would appreciate it if you would thank them on our behalf through the Felixton Weekly Newsletter.

Yvette and Toni Canham.
