ISSUE 01/2010
THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK: Water and words - easy to pour, impossible to recover.
A WARM WELCOME.......
To all the new families who have joined the Felixton College family and to those who returned after the Christmas holiday. We have had an exciting, smooth start to the school year and trust this has set the tone for the rest of 2010.
BEST MATRIC RESULTS EVER!

An ecstatic Mrs Badenhorst couldn't stop thanking Kuvee for his wonderful matric results! The class of 2009 recorded some of the best results in the school's history, with all but 2 qualifying to study a diploma or degree. Kuveshan Padayache topped the class with 6 distinctions. He was also in the top 1% of candidates in the country in Geography and Business Studies. More detailed results will appear in next weeks' newsletter.
NEW DEPUTY HEAD TO CHAMPION THE JUNIOR SCHOOL

Felixton College is extremely excited to announce the appointment of Craig McIlrath into the position of Deputy Headmaster Primary School, with effect from the start of the second term 2010.
Craig is originally a Johannesburg lad, matriculating at Greenside High School. Initially he completed an H.D.E. – Senior Primary at J.C.E. (Johannesburg College of Education) before completing a string of degrees culminating in an M.Ed degree, which included a pass “Cum Laude” in Educational Management.
He has 16 years teaching experience in various primary schools, his last post being Deputy Headmaster at Uplands Preparatory School in the Lowveld.
Craig has also coached, organized and run the entire gambit of school extra-curricular activities.
Craig is married to Vanessa, also an Educator, and they have two children, Kelsi (10) and
Duncan (6).
We look forward to embracing them as part of the Felixton Family.
CRICKET STAR!
Felixton College all-rounder Trevor Kietzmann travelled to Stellenbosch during the holidays for an inter-provincial tournament and has been selected to the SA Under 17 Country Districts Cricket Team. Well done Trevor - we are so proud of you!
DON'T MISS THE "GET TO KNOW YOUR GRADE CRICKET" on Friday
Cricket fever is high in South Africa at the moment with the Proteas having performed so well against England. Join us for a fun, family evening on Friday 22 January at 17:00 at The Dickson Oval for a social Cricket Festival. The prime purpose of this function is to encourage new and existing parents to get to know each other.
Wors rolls, cold drinks and sweets will be on sale and braai fires will also be available should you wish to braai. Please bring your own cutlery, crockery and camping chairs.
Please complete and return the reply slip that has been handed out, to your child’s Tutor Teacher by/on Wednesday 20 January. We remind you that each team must comprise 7 adults and a minimum of 1 pupil. In the case of more interested players, the players will be rotated to give everyone a chance to play. You will receive a slip confirming your team.
We look forward to a wonderful event.
